Boil Water Advisory Rescinded!

As of around 2 pm, Sunday, February 12, 2006

Kincardine is under a boil water advisory!

As of around 3:10 pm, Thrusday, February 2, 2006 For more information -- http://www.publichealthgreybruce.on.ca/HOME/NewsEvents/2006/Feb/2006Feb02_BWA-Kincardine.htm This was caused by excessive run-off into the lake due to mid weather.

My Dream Guitar page

I'm trying this new page thing out, Dream Guitars?. I would like to have in as a subsection to Katelyn and mine's page...but again, out of my league.

Those subsections are called groups. Once you create a page in a group, it's kinda tricky to move it to anohter group. So it's best to create them where you want them. Two ways to do so:
1)Create the initial link to the new page on a page in the group you want it to be in. So, if you had created the link to Dream Guitars on your homepage (DanKatelyn.HomePage), you'd have been fine.
2)Include the name of the group in the link, like: [[DanKatelyn.DreamGuitars]], and the new page will end up in the right group.
Once you get this page created, you can go to Main.DreamGuitars? and cut and paste it's contents.
To delete a page, edit it, delete all it's contents and replace them with the word "delete" (without quotation makes). Hit save and the page will be deleted. Any links to it on other pages go back to being links to as yet uncleated pages (the ones with the little question mark).

Well, you did a pretty good job of getting it back, so not to worry -- Dad

Mess up!

So...Dan and I were updated the gift registry page last night, and somehow, I do believe I managed to delete all of the text. I went back into the history and copy and pasted all of it back (it hadn't updated Dan's and my changes), however it didn't space right. Sorry about this!

CDs...

So, my CD only has one track(not song, but track) left to be recorded. Since, I've already sold some copies, it'd be nice if I had some CDs (and jewel cases) to put them in. Now, the question is, what the the most reliable yet affordable CDs with cases that I can get? I also need to update the insert, and get a tracklisting for the back, but then I need to print this stuff out. So yeah...just a heads up.

Completely unrelated note: How do I create a new page...?

Instructions for creating a new page are to be found at PmWiki.CreatingNewPages

Jan 20, 2006 -- we won the lottery!

After around twenty years of bringing our own bags (re-usable cloth ones) to grocery shopping at Zehr's in Kincardine, we finally won a $25 gift certificate in the draw they have every month for people who bring their own bags. Amazing!
Irv Mills January 20, 2006, at 09:49 AM EST

20 years, really. Not a Chance I was a lot older than 6 when you started to use the bags. I was more like 12. Which would make it more like 14 years. Which is still a lot, but not 20 years. Adriene

Gosh, you're makin' me blush! But thanks! --Dad

Yet more proof you're the best parents ever.--Dan

Ninja provided, see my email -- Dad

However, if you kill all the stupid people in society, it will become a very lonesome place. So we won't be bringing your hockey stick. We'll have to think about the "lord and master" part...

I NEED A NINJA

I forgot to photocopy that stuff, and the page protectors I need for that project. Now, this is a rather big deal, that is 5% off the top of the project right there. So, what I'm proposing is as follows:

  1. You guys make photocopies of my various awards/scholarships.
  2. You gather these photocopies and said page protectors as well as, a binder in good condition.
  3. You take said gathered things and drive them down to me on Thursday.
  4. We make the best out of a bad situation and make a day out of this driving down.
  5. I becoming a super ninja and kill all the stupid people in society and make the world a good place to live, with my hockey stick
  6. You then elect me lord and master of the universe.

Power Outage, November 21, 2005

The power was off here in Kincardine for a couple of hours (approximately 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.), so if you had trouble accessing this wiki, that's why!

New Version of pmwiki now in use!

This will interest some of you in that the way a space at the start of a line is handled is now somewhat different. To quote the documentation:
"Whitespace indentation rules now exist and are enabled by default. Any line that begins with whitespace and aligns with a previous list item is considered to be "within" that list item. Text folds and wraps as normal, and the (:linebreaks:) directive is honored. To turn off whitespace indentation, use DisableMarkup('^ws');."
The (:linebreaks:) thing makes all the line breaks you put in in the edit mode show up on the page.

New Photo Galleries!

Many photo galleries have just been created in the Events group! Including several family events that I've been meaning to get around to for years...

Danny Wins Scholarship

Commencement was last night (November 5, 2005) at KDSS, and Danny won the Kincardine Summer Music Festival Scholarship. This came as a complete surprise to us, but it's $150, and that's great. He was an Ontario scholar as well, but that was no surprise (and it's worth $50, these days).

To be perfectly honest, it scares me, a lot. -- Katelyn

I found a new graphic for the page header.

News from Ella!

Ella was our first foster dog, who was adopted late in September. She came from Adopt-a-pet/Pet Rescue, a privately operated, non-profit animal shelter based in Lucknow, Ontario
Here is the text of an email from her: (Oct. 25/05)
Kathi/Barb
Just a little note to tell I have really settled in with Judy and Bill. The cats were a bit of a pain at the start but I have them now in line. I have taught my masters new tricks such as roll over, shake a paw, sit at each corner, and to heel. The man master is a bit hesitant to sit at each corner but I will bring him around soon. Give a bark to all my buddies at the shelter and tell there are good master out there to rescue them. Enclose is a picture which I hope you will pass on to my foster parents as I did enjoy their company as well.
Woof for now
Ella

And here is the photo that came with the email:

A new foster dog!

We have a new foster dog. His name is Rumor and he is a husky cross (with what, no one is sure).
Photos coming soon! --Irv Mills October 04, 2005, at 11:07 PM EST

It doesn't show too well here, but Rumor's eyes are a sort of icy blue.
He weights around 40 lbs. and is somewhere between 1 and 2 years old.
Pretty well full grown, but not completely filled out yet.
Rumor comes from Adopt-a-pet/Pet Rescue, a privately operated, non-profit animal shelter based in Lucknow, Ontario

Password Protection Removed from "Edit"

Now anyone can edit this wiki, without having to know a password. I am hoping this will encourage folks to contribute.
A password is still required to upload files or change the passwords. --Irv Mills October 02, 2005, at 09:40 PM EST

A Name has been chosen!

Well, as you can see from the page header, a name has been chosen (by me) and approved (by Carolynn) for the Mills Family Wiki. For a few words on why "Rose Coloured Glasses" was chosen, click here. --Irv Mills September 30, 2005, at 05:59 PM EST

Input Requested:

We'd like to have a name for the wiki other than just "Mills Family Wiki".
Any ideas?

Ella Has Been Adopted -- September 25, 2005

Ella was adopted today by a nice couple from Newmarket. We are sorry to see her go, but it's great that she has found a permanent home.

Everybody's home page now has something on it!

So I have moved the links to them over to the sidebar on the left.
Irv, Sept. 20, 2005

September 16, 2005

Well, we've had Ella for a week and a half now and she is a real sweetie. She comes when called, sits when told too and is getting better at fetch every day. And she is really quiet -- only barks when startled, never at other dogs or people. For more photos of Ella (and our cat Loki), check out DanKatelyn.Pets1.

September 6, 2005

Just this evening we picked up Ella, the dog we are fostering for Adopt-a-pet in Lucknow.
Here is a picture of her:

Ella appears to be a mix of black Lab and Airedale terrier, what I would call a "wire-haired whatchamacallit". Her personality is very much that of the lab. --Dad
